Happy National Bourbon Heritage Month!

September Is National Bourbon Heritage Month

Happy National Bourbon Heritage Month to all those that celebrate!

If you know me, then you know that I don't wait until September to raise a glass of bourbon in salutation.  It's more of a year-round thing.

But for those that want to focus on a single-month (very limited, I say), this is the month that is a cause for celebration in recognition of America's "Native Spirit":

B O U R B O N

On August 2, 2007, the US Senate declared September as "National Bourbon Heritage Month."  It is notable that the bill, sponsored by Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky, passed by unanimous consent.  I've always said that it only takes a good Bourbon to get past partisanship.

Maybe next year, I'll try the fully immersive Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown, KY!  With multiple stages of music and demonstrations, bourbon tastings, and food pairings, the festival is more my speed than Burning Man.

Whether you choose to celebrate by visiting a bourbon distillery (so many to choose from!), attending a bourbon tasting (make your own!), trying new bourbon cocktail (yum), or simply imbibing (also yum), there's no wrong way to commemorate Bourbon's heritage.
